The Tojiro Zen series represents an authentic version of traditional Japanese knives, just as knives have been made in Japan for centuries. The blade of these knives is identical to the DP series, but the handle is significantly different.

Santoku translates to three virtues, which refers to his ability to process meat, fish and vegetables. This knife shape is the ultimate choice for households but is also preferred by professionals who don't like too long blades.

VG10 steel has the perfect characteristics required for making kitchen knives. With advanced processing technology and many years of experience, the Tojiro company manages to extract the maximum potential from it, so these knives keep their sharpness for an incredibly long time and can be easily sharpened again.

The handle is made in traditional Japanese style from magnolia wood. The collar of the handle, that is. the part where the blade and the handle join is made of polypropylene resin to make it extra strong.

The Zen series is an ideal option for professional and hobby chefs, and often because of the good ratio of price, quality and appearance, the knives from this series are often chosen as gifts by customers.

Tojiro ZEN Santoku 165mm

How to choose the first Japanese knife?

If you are buying your first Japanese knife, the advice is to choose a multifunctional blade shape that will cover the widest range of your needs in the kitchen. This includes Gyuto, Santoku and Bunka. The rule is that bigger people need bigger knives and vice versa.

Japanese knife as a perfect gift

Although in the culture of the Far East it is not recommended to give a blade as a gift because of the connection with cutting off good relations, they also could not resist the perfection of such a gift, so they devised a "trick" that allows them to gift knives without problems. Just ask for one coin from the person receiving the gift and in the eyes of strict superstition spirits it will be a fair exchange. Now no joke, a knife is a gift that unlike other transient things will be remembered forever because it will serve forever.
