Katsuramuki is a rotary vegetable peeling technique that is often performed by highly trained Japanese chefs and is a very difficult skill to master. Be Sharp has a tool for you that makes that task easier! With the CHIBA Peel you will be able to make continuous Katsuramuki without any hassle. Now you can bring a lot of different new and very interesting recipes into your practice! The blade moves back and forth as the food rotates, so the leaves that come out are smoother and more even than if you were to use a knife or classic peeling tools.

Material: plastic BPA free/stainless steel

Dimensions: 300×240×165mm (the thickness of the katsuramuki is approximately 0.5mm)

Weight: 1.7kg

Maintenance: after use, it should be washed and dried with a cloth or towel. Straight blades can be removed and resharpened on a water whetstone.

WARNING: The peeler is intended for katsuramuki, it is not recommended to use it to cut the garnish because the blade can quickly protrude or break.

How to choose the first Japanese knife?

If you are buying your first Japanese knife, the advice is to choose a multifunctional blade shape that will cover the widest range of your needs in the kitchen. This includes Gyuto, Santoku and Bunka. The rule is that bigger people need bigger knives and vice versa.

Japanese knife as a perfect gift

Although in the culture of the Far East it is not recommended to give a blade as a gift because of the connection with cutting off good relations, they also could not resist the perfection of such a gift, so they devised a "trick" that allows them to gift knives without problems. Just ask for one coin from the person receiving the gift and in the eyes of strict superstition spirits it will be a fair exchange. Now no joke, a knife is a gift that unlike other transient things will be remembered forever because it will serve forever.
