Takamura is now a famous forge from Echizen. Their knives are a favorite among today's most awarded chefs such as René Redzepi and Massimo Bottura. They all state that Takamura is their number 1 choice and that they consider these knives to be an extension of their arm.

This Santoku knife is considered the perfect working knife for the kitchen. The geometry that is characteristic of Takamura's knives allows it to easily cut through the toughest foods and handle any kitchen chopping task. Santoku means three virtues and you can use it to prepare meat, fish or vegetables.

SG2 steel is currently the best stainless steel for knife making in the world. Its powder composition allows it to be incredibly hard - up to 63HRC, and on the other hand, it can be sharpened incredibly easily.
The finish on this Takamura knife is called Migaki which simply refers to the beautifully polished sides of the knife.

The handle is European style, made of rosewood, firmly attached with three stainless steel rivets. This knife is perfect for both professionals and chefs who want the right tool for preparing food at home.

Incredible blade

The best choice for a wide range of kitchen tasks. Beautiful design, simple, lightweight, perfectly sharp - it made me fall in love with cooking again.

How to choose the first Japanese knife?

If you are buying your first Japanese knife, the advice is to choose a multifunctional blade shape that will cover the widest range of your needs in the kitchen. This includes Gyuto, Santoku and Bunka. The rule is that bigger people need bigger knives and vice versa.

Japanese knife as a perfect gift

Although in the culture of the Far East it is not recommended to give a blade as a gift because of the connection with cutting off good relations, they also could not resist the perfection of such a gift, so they devised a "trick" that allows them to gift knives without problems. Just ask for one coin from the person receiving the gift and in the eyes of strict superstition spirits it will be a fair exchange. Now no joke, a knife is a gift that unlike other transient things will be remembered forever because it will serve forever.
