The Miyako series is a unique product from Japan. The Shizu Hamono forge team carefully designed this series to be functionally, aesthetically, and cost-aligned.

The Gyuto Japanese knife shape is equivalent to the Chef's knife in French cuisine. It is considered one of the most versatile knife shapes and is used for all kitchen tasks. It is especially suitable for cutting boneless meat and fish. The 240mm blade length is suitable for larger users who are accustomed to working with larger knives.

The knife is made of stainless steel and holds its sharpness for an exceptionally long time. It is an ideal choice whether you want a quality Japanese knife for yourself or as a gift. The blade is made of 33 layers of Damascus steel with a beautiful contrast between the misty layers and the highly polished central steel located along the edge.

The handle is made of compressed wood in a D-shape and polished to a matte finish, providing a pleasant and secure feel.

How to choose the first knife?

If you are buying your first Japanese knife, the advice is to choose a multifunctional blade shape that will cover the widest range of your needs in the kitchen. This includes Gyuto, Santoku and Bunka. The rule is that bigger people need bigger knives and vice versa.

Japanese knife as a gift

Although in the culture of the Far East it is not recommended to give a blade as a gift because of the connection with cutting off good relations, they also could not resist the perfection of such a gift, so they devised a "trick" that allows them to gift knives without problems. Just ask for one coin from the person receiving the gift and in the eyes of strict superstition spirits it will be a fair exchange. Now no joke, a knife is a gift that unlike other transient things will be remembered forever because it will serve forever.
