Sakai Kikumori, himself approaching 100 years in business, continues to work with some of the most skilled craftsmen in the field of producing a wide range of tableware.

Bunka is a universal Japanese knife shape that impresses every user with its elegance and functionality. The flat Santoku knife-like blade profile makes the Bunka ideal for chopping vegetables, and the specifically shaped and accentuated tip gives it the universality of a Gyuto knife, especially when it comes to processing proteins. It could be said that this knife represents an ideal combination of both mentioned forms.

The octagonal geometry of the handle is typical of Japanese traditional craftsmanship. In addition to adding to the beauty and uniqueness of the knife, it provides the user with a better grip. The darker shade of Japanese oak wood is in harmony with the experience of the brilliance of VG10 stainless steel.

This Bunka is also specific for its blacksmith pattern in the style of IKIGAI - Japanese intersecting circles.

How to choose the first Japanese knife?

If you are buying your first Japanese knife, the advice is to choose a multifunctional blade shape that will cover the widest range of your needs in the kitchen. This includes Gyuto, Santoku and Bunka. The rule is that bigger people need bigger knives and vice versa.

Japanese knife as a perfect gift

Although in the culture of the Far East it is not recommended to give a blade as a gift because of the connection with cutting off good relations, they also could not resist the perfection of such a gift, so they devised a "trick" that allows them to gift knives without problems. Just ask for one coin from the person receiving the gift and in the eyes of strict superstition spirits it will be a fair exchange. Now no joke, a knife is a gift that unlike other transient things will be remembered forever because it will serve forever.
